Our Mission
We are dedicated to bringing hope and transformation to those affected by addiction and
homelessness in Portland. Through compassionate outreach and meaningful connections, we
guide individuals toward essential resources and services that support their journey to
stability. By collaborating with local organizations and creating safe, sober community
spaces, we empower people to rediscover their resilience, unlock their creativity, and build a
future of sobriety and stability.
We dream of a future where every neighborhood in Portland and eventually, every major city
across the U.S. has a thriving community hub where individuals can find support, sobriety,
and a renewed sense of purpose. Through compassionate outreach, innovative programs, and
strong partnerships, we are committed to transforming lives, breaking the cycle of addiction,
and fostering communities where everyone has the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive.
Founded by TJ Harris, our organization was born out of a powerful realization of the
magnitude of the fentanyl crisis in downtown Portland. TJ, an ex-convict who spent 13 years
in prison, knows what it means to face immense challenges and rebuild a life from the ground
up. While he didn’t struggle with addiction himself, he saw firsthand how addiction can
devastate lives and communities. Upon his release, TJ made it his mission to dedicate his life
to helping those facing the depths of addiction and homelessness.
In prison, TJ found his own redemption, he discovered the strength within to change the
course of his life, and in doing so, realized the profound impact of human connection. He
learned that sometimes, all it takes is one person reaching out, offering compassion, and
seeing the potential in someone when they can't see it themselves. This became the
foundation of our mission: to not only offer food and resources but to foster genuine human
connections that reignite hope and spark transformation.
What began as a grassroots outreach effort to meet immediate needs has blossomed into a
powerful movement, one that recognizes the importance of both recovery and rediscovery.
TJ’s personal journey of resilience and reinvention fuels our vision: to create safe, welcoming
spaces where people can engage in sober activities, express themselves through art, and
access the resources they need to regain control of their lives.
At our heart, we are more than a service provider, we are a community, a family where
connection and creativity lead the way toward healing. Through the creation of community center, we provide a space for individuals to reconnect with their true selves, share in
recovery through art and sober activities, and build lives grounded in hope and stability.
TJ’s story reminds us that transformation is possible, no matter where we come from. It’s
about embracing a new beginning, finding strength in unity, and understanding that every
person has the power to change their path. Whether you're seeking support or looking to
offer it, we invite you to walk with us as we show the world that no one is beyond redemption.
Our mission begins on the streets of Portland, where our outreach teams are actively
engaging with individuals facing homelessness and addiction. We don’t just hand out meals
and supplies; we oer something much deeper, human connection. In every interaction, we
strive to ignite hope, create a sense of dignity, and empower individuals to take that first
crucial step toward sobriety and stability. Each conversation is an invitation to begin a new
chapter that leads to personal growth and lasting change.
Our approach goes beyond meeting basic needs. We believe that community and creativity
are essential to recovery. That’s why we’ve created safe, welcoming spaces where individuals
can find solace, connect with others, and rediscover their potential. Through art and
creativity, we provide an outlet for self-expression, oering people a powerful tool to
reconnect with themselves and reimagine their futures.
In these drug- and alcohol-free spaces, we oer an alternative to destructive behaviors,
helping individuals not only break free from addiction but build new, healthier habits and
relationships. We understand that true recovery is about more than just stopping old
patterns—it’s about building a new life, one that’s filled with purpose, connection, and hope.
By fostering positive associations and oering a sense of belonging, we empower individuals
to rediscover their inner strength and move forward with a renewed sense of possibility.
At the core of our approach is collaboration with local organizations that share our vision of
supporting individuals on their recovery journey. We work closely with respected partners
such as Central City Concern, a leader in providing housing and healthcare services for those
experiencing homelessness and addiction in Portland. Through these partnerships, we are
able to extend our reach and ensure that the individuals we engage with are not only
provided with immediate relief, but also connected to long-term solutions that can help them
reclaim their lives.
We host essential programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
at our community centers, providing ongoing, peer-supported recovery options. Thesepartnerships create a supportive environment where people can find community and
understanding as they take steps toward sobriety. In addition to these recovery programs, we
connect individuals with a network of resources, including housing services, mental health
care, job training, and legal support.
Our work is guided by the belief that recovery is a multifaceted journey, one that requires a
combination of safe housing, consistent mental health care, access to recovery programs,
and community support. By collaborating with a broad spectrum of local organizations, we
create an integrated system of care that supports individuals in all aspects of their recovery,
from the moment they first engage with us, to the long-term stability they work toward.
We are committed to building a community where no one has to face their challenges alone.
Through our partnerships, we provide a pathway to hope, healing, and lasting change.
